How to Knit a Reversible Vintage Lace Stitch + video

    October 5, 2024 /

In this tutorial, I’m sharing how to knit an adorable vintage lace stitch pattern. Although both sides look different, they are very pretty, so I’d say it’s a reversible knitting pattern. I think it’s the perfect pattern for a romantic scarf, rectangular shawl, or wrap. Moreover, it’ll look great also on a cardigan or sweater. If that’s your choice, you could use it to knit the whole garment, for the sleeves only, or as a central panel. This reversible vintage lace stitch is an 8-row repeat pattern, fun to knit, and I think we’ll be practicing a purl simple decrease for the first time 😉 Before we start knitting our…

How to knit the Lace Scarf stitch (2 rows only!)

    August 26, 2023 /

Today, you’ll learn how to knit the Lace Scarf stitch, an elegant vertical design, full of texture. The good news is that it will also work for accessories, such as infinite cowls, hats, gloves, mittens, etc. Moreover, you can use it for larger garments: Tops, wraps, cardigans, sweaters, and many other projects. It’s a two-row repeat pattern, fun to knit, and easy to do (it doesn’t matter if you’re not an expert knitting lace). Actually, the only techniques required are knit, purl, and the most common increase, and a simple decrease. Although is not identical on both sides, they look pretty, so I’d say it’s a reversible stitch. Besides, it’s…

How to knit the One-row repeat stitch: Reversible (it doesn’t curl)

    December 15, 2021 /

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to knit a one-row repeat lace knit stitch, in both, English and Continental styles. It’s a reversible knit stitch pattern, identical on both sides, although, to me, the even rows form the “Right” side of the work. Additionally, this one-row lace knit stitch doesn’t curl, because of the combination of knit and purl stitches; similar to the Herringbone Lace stitch we practiced a while ago. Apart from being pretty easy to do (there are no twists nor any especially difficult steps), you can use it for both Summer and Winter garments, in other words, cotton or wool, it’s up to you 🙂 Nevertheless, before…

Learn to knit the One-Row repeat stitch: Reversible, great for scarves!

    October 16, 2021 /

Today, you’ll learn to knit the one-row repeat stitch, great for scarves and infinite cowls. It’s a lovely pattern; it will work for Winter/Summer garments, and it has some advantages to it: First of all, it’s easy to do: There are 4 steps that be repeated time and time again because it’s a one-row pattern. Secondly, it’s reversible and identical on both sides, this is why it’s great for scarves. Furthermore, it doesn’t curl. Therefore, there is no need to think of edges, but it’s also true that even a simple Garter stitch edge will make it shine… Variety and contrast are the spice of life! Finally, you won’t have…

Herringbone Lace stitch: A one-row repeat knitting pattern for beginners

    October 16, 2020 /

In today’s tutorial, you’ll learn an adorable pattern, super easy to knit (just 3 simple steps), and reversible (identical on both sides): The Herringbone Lace stitch. It’s the perfect option for beginners that are looking to knit lace for the first time, because the only techniques required are the knit stitch, knit two stitches together, and yarn forward. The Herringbone Lace is a one-row repeat pattern (it means that there is only one row that will be repeated time and time again), and you can use it for both Summer and Winter garments, in other words cotton or wool, you decide! This stitch pattern has no right or wrong side,…

Two-row repeat reversible lace knitting pattern

    April 14, 2020 /

In today’s tutorial, you’ll learn how to knit a vertical lace stitch, great for knitting a wide range of projects, because it’s reversible (identical on both sides), and it doesn’t curl!  This reversible lace knitting stitch is a two-row repeat pattern, full of texture, and pretty easy to memorize (there are just a couple of simple steps to remember). This is another so called “true lace” knitting pattern (same category as the Saint John’s Wort stitch we practiced last week), because the alternative rows are not just plain purl rows. The lace is worked in each row. Before we start, please do remember my two “must-dos” when lace knitting: Always…

One row lace stitch: only 3 steps, identical on both sides and it doesn’t curl

    June 29, 2019 /

This lace stitch has everything a knitter needs! The advantages are many: Easy to knit, unisex, reversible, fluffy, it doesn’t curl…one row only and three steps that will be repeated until you finish. It’s a great stitch for knitting women’s and men’s scarves and cowls, amongst other projects, and quite practical: no need to make additional edges or panels to avoid the normal rolling up when knitting lace. And if you still haven’t dared to knit lace yet, or scared to try, this stitch is an ideal way to start (in the video tutorial, you’ll see how to do it, step by step, according to your knitting style: English and…
