How to knit the Drizzle stitch pattern (English & Continental style)

    April 26, 2022 /

In today’s tutorial I’m sharing how to knit the Drizzle Stitch, step by step. Honestly, I have to confess that when I saw it, I fell in love (among other things, because it forms a tiny pattern, a lovely design that will show up even in the smallest garments. It’s an adorable four-row repeat pattern, two of which are plain purl rows. In fact, one of the things that I like the most about the Drizzle stitch is that despite having slip stitches, the fabric does not tighten or shrink, as sometimes happens. Probably, it’s because of those alternating purl rows; they make the fabric “rest and relax”, let’s say.…

How to knit the Chevron Seed stitch (ideal for baby blankies)

    March 18, 2022 /

Today, I’m sharing how to knit the Chevron Seed stitch, an adorable version of the regular Chevron pattern (there are many of them, and so far, I’ve shared two). Maybe, it’s so lovely because of what I call “The Seed Factor”…? I don’t know if you feel the same, but to me, the Seed stitch is something special. I find it so cute, that it makes me think instantly of babies 🙂 In fact, I believe this pattern is ideal for a baby blanket (although I’d suggest adding a nice edge on each side of the project, that could be made in Seed stitch of course). The Chevron Seed stitch…

How to knit the Purl Twist stitch pattern, step by step

    October 21, 2021 /

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to knit the Purl Twist stitch, a four-row repeat pattern with a twist… And it has nothing to do with knitting or purling through the back loop 😉 In fact, I’m showing you how to cross stitches without using a cable needle; a simple way to do right-leaning, almost diagonal stitches, without a lot of effort. Additionally, the Purl Twist stitch creates a lovely fabric, which has a rich texture to it, similar to a wicker basket (like the Jute stitch pattern). Therefore, it’s a great pattern for accessories, such as hats, gloves, socks, etc., and also, for sweaters, cardigans, even a blanket. However,…

How to knit the Diagonal Flakes stitch pattern

    October 13, 2021 /

In this tutorial, I’m sharing how to knit the Diagonal Flakes stitch pattern… quite simply it’s fantastic! Similar to the Crocodile stitch we learned some time ago, this stitch pattern has a rich texture to it, and it’s easy-peasy 😉 In fact, the Diagonal Flakes stitch is perfect for a cardigan (or sweater). This is why I’ve knitted a swatch including a 2 x 2 rib, to recreate a sleeve. Additionally, it’s a four-row repeat pattern, two of which are plain purl rows; the other two consist in a repetition of two basic steps. Also, I’d like to take this opportunity to show you a little trick when knitting the…

Two-Color Slip-Stitch knitting pattern (no purling required)

    June 23, 2021 /

In this tutorial, I’m sharing how to knit the Two-Color Slip-Stitch pattern. A fluffy four-row repeat pattern that doesn’t curl, (and so easy, that there is no need to purl, yay!). It’s a nice option for blankets, baby stuff, but also, any kind of home decorations (table runner, placemats, cushions, etc.). Before anything else, I’d like to share some guidelines to obtain the best results when knitting the two-color slip-stitch pattern: In the first place, although rows 1 and 3, look very similar, as well as rows and 2 and 4, they are indeed different.  So, please pay attention, because it’s easy to get confused the first time you try…

How to knit the Honeycomb Brioche stitch

    January 21, 2021 /

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to knit the Honeycomb Brioche stitch, a classic in the world of knitting. Chunky and cosy, it has a rich texture, perfect for Winter garments in Wool, Alpaca, or Cashmere yarn.  However the Honeycomb Brioche stitch is also suitable for knitting Spring/Autumn garments, using cotton yarn and big needles 😉 A four-row repeat pattern, very intuitive after the first rows, and easy to remember: The same steps are repeated time and time again, ideal knitting while watching your favorite shows or if you have to watch “THE GAME” with your S.O. Ok, let’s get started! For this swatch I used my double pointed bamboo…

Twisted Knot knitting stitch pattern: Only four rows and it doesn’t curl

    August 6, 2020 /

I would to share with you the Twisted Knot knitting pattern. An adorable stitch that doesn’t curl. It has a rich texture to it, similar to the Edelweiss knitting pattern. The Twisted Knot stitch is a four-row repeat pattern; it is pretty intuitive: There are only two steps that will be repeated time and time again, easy to see and to memorize, so you’ll instantly know what comes next; there’s no need to keep checking the instructions all the time. It’s not reversible, yet the “wrong” side of the work looks interesting too, so there are many projects we can use it for: Scarves, cowls, cushions, table runners, blankets, hats,…
