How to Knit Reversible Lace (easy 4 row-repeat pattern)
In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to knit an amazing lace stitch, full of advantages…YAY!
First, it’s a four-row repeat pattern, easy to do and memorize.
After some rows, you’ll know exactly what to do, because we will be repeating the same steps time and time again.
Second, although both sides look totally different, to me it’s a reversible lace pattern.
They are so pretty that both can be used as the right side indistinctly, you just have to choose your favorite 😉
Honestly, its texture is something that I hadn’t seen before: The pattern looks raised on both sides (it’s another 3D stitch pattern).
Third, it doesn’t curl, so it’s perfect for seasonal scarves, wraps, tops, or vests.
However, before starting a project, it’s better to knit a swatch (click here to see what I do to make sure in advance that I’m on the right path).
The type of yarn, and our tension, are variables to take into account.
Not only in terms of gauge/size (the number of stitches per inch/cm) but to decide if we like how open or dense our fabric looks.
Or to see if the fabric curls or not, so we know if we have to add a border or edge.

Abbreviations
CO: Cast on
st: Stitch
RS: Right side
K: Knit
P: Purl
yo: Yarn over
slip2togkw: Slip two stitches together knitwise (pass two stitches at once onto the right-hand needle as ion to knit)
passo: pass the slipped stitches over the last one
ssk: Slip, slip, knit. Slip one stitch as if to knit, slip the next same way, put both back onto the left-hand needle, and knit them together
k2tog: Knit two stitches together
WS: Wrong side
BO: Bind off
N.B:
The even rows form the right side of the work.
There are no edge (selvage) stitches included; if you like them, add two stitches to your calculations.
How to Knit Reversible Lace
CO multiples of 4 + 1; i.e.: 4 * 4 = 16 + 1 = 17 st.
Rows 1 and 3: *P1, K1*. Repeat from * to *, to last st, P1.
Row 2 (RS): *K1, yo, sl2togkw, K1, passo, yo*. Repeat from * to *, to last st, ending with K1
Row 4: ssk, yo, *K1, yo, sl2togkw, K1, passo, yo*. Repeat from * to *, to last 3 st, K1, yo, k2tog.
These four rows create the pattern. Repeat them until the desired length is reached.
When finished, BO in pattern after row 3 (RS).
