How to knit an easy Lace Column Scarf stitch pattern in two rows!
In today’s tutorial, you’ll learn how to knit an easy Lace Column Scarf stitch: It’s simply gorgeous!
My swatch hasn’t been blocked yet and it looks adorable, so imagine it after a nice blocking process 🙂
It’s a two-row repeat knitting pattern, which includes a couple of steps that you’ll remember trouble-free.
Although it’s not reversible, the lace columns look pretty also on the wrong side of the work… I’m loving it.
And the techniques required are quite simple: knit and purl stitches, plus some yarn overs here and there.
Finally, in the video tutorial, I’m sharing how to do it in both, English and Continental methods.
So, no excuses! Grab your needles + yarn, and let’s get started!
Abbreviations
CO: Cast on
st: Stitch
RS: Right side of the work
K: Knit
P: Purl
k2tog: Knit two stitches together
p2tog: Purl two stitches together
yo: Yarn over (before a knit stitch)
yrn: Yarn round needle (before a purl stitch)
BO: Bind off
WS: wrong side of the work
N.B.:
The odd rows form the right side of the work.
The first and the last stitch are selvage stitches, and they will be knitted on each row.
This swatch was made with a blend of wool and Alpaca: Soft, warm, great for stitch definition #ad

CO multiples 5 + 2 + 2 (edge st).
1º and every odd row (RS): K1 (edge), *yrn, p2tog, K3*. Repeat from * to *, to last 3 st, yrn, p2tog, K1 (edge)
2º and every even row: K1 (edge), *yo, k2tog, P3*. Repeat from * to *, to last 3 st, yo, k2tog, K1 (edge).
These two rows create the pattern. Repeat them until the desired length is reached.
When finished, BO knitwise after a row 1 (RS).
If you’d like to add bottom and top Garter edges:
Work 2 rows in Garter stitch (just knit across two rows),
Now work rows 1 and two, and finish working 3 rows in Garter stitch,
Finally, BO knitwise after the 3º row (facing the WS).
This is the other side of the work:
