How to knit the Morning Glory stitch (2 rows!)
In today’s tutorial, I’m sharing how to knit a variant of the classic Stockinette (Stocking) stitch.
It’s a two-row repeat pattern, another combination of plain knit and purl rows, but, with a little bit of texture.
It reminds me of the famous Heart stitch pattern…
Nevertheless, this one is easier and faster to knit, because you don’t need to keep interchanging knit and purl stitches in the same row.
If you have following me for some time, you know that I like to share how to knit variants of worldwide known patterns, adding special touches.
In summary, you can use this version as a substitute for the normal one: It’s great for sweaters, cardigans, socks, hats, etc.
The only difference is that you’ll need two different needle sizes (one larger than the other), to create the “lacy” effect.
And as a Stockinette fabric, it curls, so don’t forget to add a nice edge on each side of the garment, if you decide to knit a blanket, scarf, or any other piece that should stay flat.
Ok, I think that’s everything I need to explain before you start with your swatch.
Grab your needles, and some yarn, and let’s knit together 🙂
Abbreviations

Ktbl: Knit one stitch through the back loop

The odd rows form the right side of the work.
Don’t forget to use 2 different needle sizes (one being at least 3 sizes larger).
How to knit the Morning Glory stitch pattern
With the larger needle, CO any number of st.
1º row (RS): Using the smaller needle, ktbl across the row (knit every st through the back loop)
2º row: Using the larger needle, P across.
These two rows create the pattern. Repeat them until the desired length is reached.
When finished, BO knitwise, after row 1 (WS).
This is the other side of the work:
