Just Knit and Relax: Simple Stitch Pattern + Video

For those occasions when you need a simple stitch to knit and relax…

Sometimes, as an experienced knitter, I just want to sit down, don’t think about anything else, (not even counting or paying too much attention to what I have on my needles).

I’m sure you have those moments too!

This is a simple yet lovely stitch , also ideal for beginners; the only techniques required are knitting and purling, and there are another couple of things that I love from this pattern.

Key Features

  • First of all, it’s identical on both sides, so it’s a nice option for dishcloths, scarves, and infinite cowls, for example.
  • Second of all, it lays flat no matter what. It doesn’t curl nor bend, so if you’re thinking of knitting a piece that should stay flat, this pattern is for you.

Where to Use this Simple Stitch?

Besides scarves and cowls, I’d see it easily on a blanket, or a pillow cover.

It’d work great on sweaters or cardigans because it will mix perfectly with sections in Stockinette stitch, so you can add some texture to your garment, and it still will be easy to knit!

Yarn and Needles

For this swatch I used 100% Superwash Merino Wool (worsted weight, medium, or number 4). This yarn is soft and structured, perfect for knit and purl and cable patterns #ad

And US 8 (5 mm) knitting needles #ad (I personally prefer wooden or bamboo needles, because they’re smooth, they don’t get warm nor cold, and I LOVE the sound when I’m knitting).
