How to Knit a Pretty Lace Stitch (2-row-repeat)
Today, you’ll learn how to knit a pretty lace stitch, ideal for beginners.
It’s a two-row repeat pattern, which includes easy steps that I’m sure you’ll memorize quickly!
Although both sides are different, they look very pretty, so I’d say it’s a reversible stitch pattern.
Besides, I think this lace stitch is a great pattern for seasonal sweaters and tops.
It reminds me of another one that we practiced a while ago…
The good news is that today’s pattern is easier 🙂
However, if you want to use it for a scarf, cowl, or any other garment that should stay flat, don’t forget to add a nice edge on each side.
Why?
Well, it doesn’t curl, but the sides are a bit irregular, so a border knitted in a pattern that combines knits and purls frequently, will help your project to stay completely flat.
Without further ado, grab your needles and some yarn, and let’s get busy…
This swatch was knitted using 100% cotton yarn (worsted weight, easy to work with) #ad

wyib: With yarn in back
K: Knit
P: Purl
yo: Yarn over (simple increase)

N.B.:
First, the cast-on row should be loose (if you use the Long Tail or the German Twisted methods, use 2 needles at a time to cast on).
Second, the odd rows form the right side of the work.
Third, there are two edge or selvage stitches included (the first and the last); they will be knitted on every odd row and purled on every even row.
How to Knit a Pretty Lace Stitch Pattern (super easy!)
CO an even number of stitches.
Row 1 (RS): K1 (edge), *k2togtbl, yo*. Repeat from * to *, to last st, K1 (edge)
Row 2: P1 (edge), *wyib, K1, wyif, sl1pw*. Repeat from * to *, to last st, P1 (edge).
These two rows create the pattern. Repeat them until the desired length is reached.
When finished, BO knitwise after row 2 (RS).
