Netting Stitch: Learn to knit textured lace

Share via: Facebook Twitter Email LinkedIn Copy Link More One of the most beautiful net stitches I’ve seen: A lace knitting pattern that creates a textured mesh fabric, ideal to knit bags, wraps, shawls or Summer tops. Easy to knit (4 rows only) and just a few techniques to implement. The texture is so special, that although the Netting stitch is not reversible, it looks like the Trinity stitch on the wrong side. Let’s get started!   Abbreviations CO: Cast on K: Knit P: Purl YO: Yarn over K2tog: Knit two stitches together BO: Bind off     How to knit the Netting stitch pattern   CO multiples of 4 + 5 + 2 edge stitches (i.e. 4*3 = 12+5 =17+2 = 19). 1º Row (RS): K1 (edge), *K1, yo, slip 1 knitwise, k2tog, pass slipped st. over, yo*. Repeat from * to * to last 2 st., K1, then K1 (edge) 2º & 4º Rows (WS): Purl across 3º Row: K1 (edge), k2tog, yo, *K1, yo, slip 1 knitwise, k2tog, pass slipped st. over, yo*. Repeat from * to * to last 4 st., K1, yo, slip 1 st. knitwise, K1, pass slipped st. over, K1 (edge). Repeat these 4 rows until you reach the desired length. BO after a 4th Row, knitwise.
