Please knit a swatch and check your gauge before starting: If you get more stitches to the inch, you need to go up a needle size. Knit 6 rows in Stockinette stitch (Rows 1, 3 and 5: Knit. Rows 2, 4 and 6: Purl).   Hat Row 7, : *K8, P1*. Repeat from the * across. Row 8: *K1, P8*. Repeat from the * across. Repeat rows 7 and 8 until the hat measures 10 cm / 4 in (12 cm / 4.72 in) from the bottom edge, without stretching it. It will be 20 (28) rows approximately.   Crown: Row 1: * K2tog, K4, K2togtbl, P1*. Repeat from the * across. Row 2: *K1, P2tog, P2, P2togtbl*. Repeat from the * across. Row 3: *K2tog, ssk, P1*. Repeat from the * across. Row 4: *K1, P2tog*. Repeat from the * across. Row 5: *K2tog*. Repeat from the * across.   Stalk: Pass the remaining stitches on the knitting needle onto the double pointed or circular needle, cut the yarn leaving a 10 cm / 4 in. tale. Row 1: Add the brown yarn, purl across and make a knot with both colors. Row 2: K1, K2tog, K1, K2tog. Row 3 (starting the I-Cord): Slide the stitches to the other tip of the needle and knit across. Row 4: Slide the stitches to the other tip of the needle, K1, K2tog, K1. Row 5: Slide the stitches to the other tip of the needle, K3. Row 6: Slide the stitches to the other tip of the needle and BO knitwise. And you are ready!   Finishing Cut the brown yarn leaving a 15 cm / 5.90 in. tale. Thread your tapestry needle, hide the yarn behind the stalk down to the base. Make a knot with both ends, and cut the rest.
